Pavers and travertine are everywhere in South Florida, from pool decks and patios to driveways and courtyards. They look great new, but sun, rain and constant use take a toll: faded color, dark mold, weeds in the joints and slick spots around the pool.
Step 1: Deep cleaning
Pavers are cleaned with a surface cleaner at controlled pressure, plus treatment for mold, algae and stains. The goal is to clean the stone without blowing out the joint sand or damaging the surface. Travertine and other natural stone need even more care, with gentle pressure and stone-safe cleaners.
Step 2: Re-sanding the joints
The sand between pavers keeps them locked in place and blocks weeds and ants. After cleaning, joints are refilled, often with polymeric sand that hardens to stay put.
Step 3: Sealing
A quality sealer protects against stains, slows mold growth, deepens the color and helps the joint sand stay in place. Finishes range from natural to wet-look. Pool decks should get a sealer rated for slip resistance.
